Introduction

Bhutan is a peaceful and  beautiful country living under the same umbrella with rich culture and tradition to attract the tourists. Bhutanese live in a fresh environment between the two countries China and India , with a large coverage forest of 60% and small population of 7 lakes plus. Bhutanese enjoy traditional music and dances to engage and control the emotion. Since the 17th century we bhutanese  sing a song and dance for extraordinary people.In bhutan there is 3 types of songs are Zhungdra, Boedra and Rigsar.

  1. Zhungdra and its dances.

Zhungdra is one of the popular Bhutanese traditional music and it is different from other countries. Zhungdra performed with a long and high voice with beautiful tunes. To sing Zhungdra, the singer has to practice a lot to control the breath and they have to sing the song in high pitch. Zhungdra has very long songs and consists of a few verses. Zhungdra dances include slow dancing standing in the same line. The dance is performed by both  men and women in traditional steps. Zhungdra was first performed in the 17th century, when bhutanese won victories from Tibetan invaders. Zhungdra is mostly sung in the center of Bhutan like paro, Thimphu and Phunakha, Now it is popular in 20 dzongkhag.

  1. Boedra and its dances.

Boedra is also traditional songs in bhutan sung during the 17th century by bhutanese ancestors and it is influenced by Tibetan Music. Bhutanese elders believe that Boedra is performed by the (boegarp) officials of the government.Boedra songs have short and faster tunes compared to Zhungdra and its dance is mostly performed in a circle called gorgom. Boedra is very easy and comfortable to sing with compared to Zhungdra. Boedra is performed as respect to the elders and ancestors, it is mostly sung based on compression like sky and sun, water and fish and village and parents. It consists of religious words and it deals with positive messages, happy movement and auspicious day. Boedra is a popular song in Bhutan which all 20 dzongkhag use to sing.

  1. Rigsar and its dances

Rigsar is a modern popular song in Bhutan sung during the 1960s. It has a faster rhythm and tunes compared to the Zhungdra and Boedra, it is mostly in Dzongkha and Tangla language. We believe that Rigsar is sung for joy and use for films, now it's for fresh mind, emotion control, entertainment and other purposes. Rigsar is performed in a different style of dance, it is very interesting and very comfortable to sing and dance. Rigsar is very popular and most young stars enjoy the songs and dance and make entertaining videos. Lots of singers brought creative songs which are liked by the men and women, it's very popular in bhutan.

The Music in Bhutan is very unique and most important in culturally which is influenced by the generation. It is a source  of various themes, ranging from traditional and plays an important role in daily life and religious spirituals. Bhutanese song is performed at the conclusion of the events to bring blessing. Beodra, Zhungdra and Rigsar are an essential part of Bhutanese traditional music.
